Listen Up. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) states it is unlawful to broadcast indecent content between the hours of 6 AM and 10 PM. Indecency is defined as depicting or describing sexually explicit or excretory activities. However, the number three most played song on radio in 2003 was a song called, "Get Low". The songs chorus -- skeet,skeet, skeet -- means to ejaculate. It received over 200,000 spins, across radio formats reaching over 500 million listeners. However, no broadcast stations or networks have been fined.
Public airwaves should reflect the interests of the public they serve. Send a message to broadcasters and hold them accountable. The first step is to learn how to file a formal complaint. A formal compliant must be filed with the FCC. Just Calling the radio station, broadcast network or confronting the on-air talent is not the way to get their attention.
