"Rarely do we find men who willingly engage in hard, solid thinking. There is an almost universal quest for easy answers and half-baked solutions. Nothing pains some people more than having to think."

PTC Applauds Coalition of Activists for Successful End to Oxygen’s “All My Babies’ Mamas”

LOS ANGELES (January 16, 2013) – Today the Parents Television Council hailed the decision by the Oxygen cable network to halt further development of “All My Babies’ Mamas”. The reality program was being developed by the NBCUniversal-owned cable network and was to feature rapper Shawty Lo and the eleven children he has fathered with ten different women. A petition calling for the Comcast/NBCUniversal network to cease any further development of this television project was launched by Sabrina Lamb at The PTC is also publicly praising the members of the united coalition of individuals and organizations who worked closely together in recent weeks to campaign against the program and deliver petitions personally to Comcast and NBCUniversal offices across the country.

“We applaud the decision by Oxygen to shut this project down. It’s the right thing to do. But the reality is that we never, ever, should have gotten to this point in the first place. Those in the executive suites at Oxygen, and at its parent companies NBCUniversal and Comcast, need to take a serious look in the mirror and question how such an abject program could ever be considered for air,” said PTC President Tim Winter.

“Not only should this serve as a shot across the bow for Oxygen; indeed it should serve as clear notice for every cable and broadcast programmer in the country that the children of America deserve better. Americans are becoming more united against content that only serves to undermine our children and our society. The entertainment industry simply must do better.

“Most importantly, we applaud the unrelenting and laser-focused efforts of a coalition of activists whose determined efforts resulted in the death knell of this program even before it aired. In addition to the members of the Parents Television Council who voiced their opposition to Babies’ Mamas, we thank and laud the leadership of Sabrina Lamb, founding CEO of, who led the coalition and the petition fight; and we offer our heartfelt gratitude to the other members of the coalition for their wisdom, their collaboration and their determination: Kimberly Clark; Gary Johnson, Founder and Publisher, Black Men in America; Shelby Knox, Senior Campaigner,; Mo’Kelly, radio talk show host on KFI and KTLK; Paul Porter, founder of Industry Ears and Rap Rehab; and Ulysses “Butch” Slaughter of The Odyssey Project.

“The positive result of this effort proves that, together, we can make a difference.”
